Once upon a time, lived the letter A. A was a very lonely letter. A sat all alone, wishing to be part of something bigger.
A decided to go on a journey. A packed a tiny bag and waved goodbye to the other letters. A hoped to make new friends and form words.
On the path, A met the letter 'T'. 'Hello!' said A. 'Hello!' said T. 'Let's be friends!' They tried to make a word, but it just sounded like 'A-T'.
Next, they met the letter 'P'. 'Can we join your fun?' asked P. Now they all tried together. A, T, and P. They made a sound 'A-T-P', it still didn't make a word!
Suddenly, 'C' appeared! 'I know how to help!' exclaimed C. Now, all four letters tried together. Together they made a brand new word 'CAT'! A was so happy!
A, T, P, and C continued to play and make words together. A learned that by blending sounds, they can create a whole world of words! A was never lonely again and had many friends!
The targeted audience of this story is Kindergartners. The Science of reading focus in this story should be letter-sound knowledge and blending. The story should be about a lonely letter that goes on a journey to make words but learns that it needs other sounds (and blending) to become a real word! Story should be 10-12 pages with 20-50 words per page
