A massive bolt of lightning strikes a tall tree, causing it to erupt into a bright and terrifying blaze while primitive humans run away in fear. Leo explains that Ugh's ancestors first saw fire in nature and called it the Golden Tooth, fearing its destructive power.
A group of early humans works together to keep a small fire burning inside a protective circle of stones. They have learned to capture the fire from nature and feed it dry twigs, becoming the dedicated Guardians of the Fire to keep their clan safe and warm.
A close-up view shows the clever technique of rapidly spinning a hard wooden stick against a flat piece of softer wood. As the stick spins faster and faster between the palms of a pair of hands, a tiny wisp of grey smoke begins to rise from the heat of the friction.
Leo and Ugh watch as two special stones, flint and pyrite, are struck together to create a rhythmic clack-clack sound and a shower of golden sparks. These sparks fall onto dry tinder, proving that fire can be awakened from the belly of a stone whenever it is needed.
Inside the safety of a dark cave, Ugh’s family gathers around a warm hearth to roast meat and tell stories by the dancing light of the flames. Outside in the shadows, a dangerous saber-toothed tiger stays far away, deterred by the protective glow of the fire.
A prehistoric child and an adult work together to watch over the fire, demonstrating the importance of community rules and cooperation. Leo explains that in the future, people still have rules to use energy wisely and protect the planet from pollution.
Leo begins to fade into a soft blue light as his tablet prepares to transport him back to the year 2026. Ugh waves a warm goodbye to his new friend, holding his fire-making tools as he stands at the dawn of history, ready to share what he has learned.

In fondo, degli uomini primitivi che scappano terrorizzati. Dialogo: Leo: «Mettiti comodo, Ugh. All'inizio i tuoi antenati avevano tantissima paura del fuoco! Lo vedevano solo quando un fulmine colpiva un albero o quando eruttava un vulcano. Lo chiamavano il "Dente d'Oro" e scappavano.» Ugh: «Vero! Il saggio del Clan dice che il fuoco brucia e fa male. Ma allora, come lo abbiamo portato nella grotta?» Pagina 5: Diventare Custodi (Storia & Educazione Civica) Visivo: Un gruppo di uomini primitivi intorno a un piccolo braciere protetto da pietre. Un uomo tiene un ramo acceso per non far spegnere la fiamma. Dialogo: Leo: «Un giorno, i più coraggiosi hanno capito che quel fuoco nato dal fulmine poteva essere "rubato" e nutrito con ramoscelli secchi. Siete diventati i Custodi del Fuoco!» Ugh: «Sì! Se il fuoco si spegne, il Clan trema dal freddo. Ma se non troviamo un fulmine, come facciamo a accenderlo da soli?» Pagina 6: Il Segreto dello Sfregamento (Fase Interattiva) Visivo: Il disegno delle mani di un uomo che strofinano velocemente un bastoncino di legno duro sopra un pezzo di legno più morbido. Dialogo: Leo: «Ecco il vero colpo di genio, Ugh! I tuoi antenati hanno capito che l'energia si trasforma. Strofinando fortissimo due legnetti... ecco il calore!» Ugh: «Io provato! Ma serve girare il bastone velocissimo, finché non esce un piccolo filo di fumo grigio. Poi si soffia piano piano su erba secca... e PUFF! Nasce il fuoco!» Pagina 7: Scintille di Pietra Visivo: Due pietre (Selce e Pirite) che si scontrano, producendo una pioggia di piccole scintille dorate che cadono su dei funghi secchi (esca). Dialogo: Leo: «Oppure usate le pietre, giusto? Battendo la selce contro un'altra pietra speciale, nascono delle scintille calde.» Ugh: «Sì! CLACK-CLACK! Quel rumore mi piace tantissimo. È come se la pietra avesse una scintilla nascosta dentro la pancia.» Pagina 8: L'Intervista continua: A cosa serve? Visivo: Una scena accogliente di vita quotidiana. La famiglia di Ugh intorno al fuoco dentro la grotta. Si vede della carne che cuoce e gli animali feroci fuori al buio che non osano avvicinarsi. Dialogo: Leo: «Ugh, ma da quando avete il fuoco, com'è cambiata la vostra vita?» Ugh (sorridendo): «Oh, tantissimo! Ora la notte c'è luce per parlare e raccontare storie. Il freddo dell'inverno non fa più paura. La carne degli animali diventa morbida e buona se sta vicino al fuoco. E le tigri dai denti a sciabola... restano lontane al buio!» Pagina 9: Le Regole della Comunità (Educazione Civica) Visivo: Un bambino preistorico e un adulto che controllano il fuoco insieme, mantenendo la grotta sicura.
