One afternoon, Oliver met Gilly, a towering giraffe with a long neck and beautiful golden spots. Gilly was trying to reach the juiciest leaves at the very top of an acacia tree but kept slipping on the loose stones below.
Seeing Gilly struggle, Oliver trotted over and used his strong hooves to clear away the sharp rocks and stabilize the ground. With a firm footing, Gilly easily reached the delicious leaves and happily shared them with her new friend.
As they walked together, a sudden breeze blew Oliver’s favorite straw hat high up into the branches of a massive baobab tree. Oliver sighed sadly, realizing he was far too short to ever reach it.
Gilly smiled kindly, gently stretched her long neck upward, and picked up the hat with her teeth. She placed it carefully back on Oliver’s head, making the little donkey bray with pure joy.
