The Legend of the Pineapple

In a small village, a hardworking mother lived with her only daughter, Pina. The mother was always busy with chores, but Pina preferred to play and lounge all day, avoiding any work.

One sunny morning, the tired mother asked Pina to go into their lush garden to gather some vegetables for lunch. Pina, showing her usual laziness, simply crossed her arms and refused to go.

Later, inside the house, the mother was looking for a small knife to prepare dinner. She asked Pina for help, but Pina didn't even try to look, complaining that she couldn't see anything.

Suddenly, the mother fell ill and could not leave her mat. She pleaded with Pina to cook some porridge for her, but Pina struggled even to light the fire.

As the fire went out, Pina threw her hands up, complaining she couldn't find the ladle, making excuses as always. Her sick mother, watching helplessly from her mat, grew incredibly frustrated.

In a moment of exhaustion and anger, the mother cried out, wishing that Pina would grow a thousand eyes so she could finally see everything she claimed to miss.

That night, as the sun set, a strange golden light began to shimmer around Pina, who was standing by the garden. Her form blurred and slowly faded away.

The next day, when the mother recovered, she searched the house and garden for Pina, calling her name anxiously. Pina was nowhere to be found, but near where she last stood, a unique plant was growing.

Days passed, and a fruit began to form on the strange plant, ripening into a golden color. The mother realized with wonder that the fruit was covered in hundreds of small 'eyes'.

Holding the fruit, the mother wept as she recognized the fulfillment of her wish. She named the fruit 'Pinya' in memory of her daughter, ensuring the story of Pina and her thousand eyes would always be remembered.
