Firefighter Fred and the Silly Sparky

Firefighter Fred stands in front of the bright red fire station. He has a big smile and waves his hand at the children. Look at the station! Sparky the dog wiggles his ears and wags his tail.

Fred needs to get ready for work. He puts his big yellow boots on his feet and his coat on his arms. Sparky wants to help, but he puts a boot on his head! Stop, Sparky! Fred laughs and gives him a pat.

It is time to wash the big red fire truck. Fred uses a long hose to spray water on the wheels. Sparky jumps in the bubbles and gets very soapy. Look at the bubbles! Sparky looks like a fluffy white cloud.

Ding-dong! The station bell makes a happy sound. Fred slides down the shiny silver pole very fast. Sparky tries to slide down too, but he goes down very slowly with his tongue out. Go, go, go!

Fred gets into the truck and turns on the bouncy seat. Sparky wants to bring his favorite toy for the ride. He puts a squeaky rubber duck in the truck. Give it here, Sparky! Now we are ready to go.

The fire truck drives down the street with bright flashing lights. The children on the sidewalk wave their hands and cheer. Fred and Sparky wave back. Look at us go! The truck makes a soft zoom sound.

The truck stops at a tall green tree in the park. A little girl points up at a blue balloon caught in the branches. Help, help! she says. Fred looks up and smiles. He can help get the balloon.

Fred pushes a big button to make the ladder go up. The ladder goes up, up, up into the leaves. Sparky watches from the ground and wags his tail fast. I want to help! Sparky barks at the balloon.

Fred gets the blue balloon and climbs back down the ladder. He gives the balloon to the happy girl. She says, Thank you! Fred feels very proud and Sparky gives the girl a wet doggy kiss.

Everyone goes back to the station to rest. Sparky is very tired and falls asleep in a pile of soft hoses. Do you want to play again tomorrow? Fred whispers. Sparky dreams of big red trucks and rubber ducks.
