Ollie's First Sensory Adventure

Little Ollie the otter wakes up with a big yawn in his cozy riverbed nest. His mama whispers that today is a very special day because they are going to their first sensory class together.

Holding his mama’s paw tightly, Ollie paddles through the gentle stream towards the big hollow log where the class is held. He feels a mix of excitement and tiny butterflies in his tummy as they approach.

The sensory room is filled with soft mats and bright, hanging ribbons that dance in the breeze. Ollie peeks out from behind Mama’s tail, wide-eyed at all the new colors and friendly faces.

A kind teacher otter welcomes them with a gentle song and a basket of shiny bells. Ollie reaches out a tiny paw to touch a golden bell, listening to the sweet tinkle-tinkle sound it makes.

It is time for the bubble station, and Ollie’s eyes go round as translucent spheres float all around him. He giggles and boops a bubble with his nose, watching it pop into tiny droplets of water.

Next, the teacher brings out a tray of soft, silky scarves in every color of the rainbow. Ollie buries his face in a fuzzy blue scarf, loving how cool and smooth it feels against his whiskers.

The lights grow dim, and suddenly the ceiling is covered in glowing, spinning stars. Ollie lays back on a soft cushion next to Mama, watching the magical light show dance across the walls.

Everyone gathers in a circle to play with colorful shakers filled with rhythmic beads. Ollie shakes his bright red maraca, feeling the vibration in his paws as he keeps the beat with his new friends.

To end the class, Mama pulls Ollie into a warm, snuggly hug while they sing a quiet goodbye song. He feels safe, happy, and very proud of himself for trying something new.

As they swim back home under the afternoon sun, Ollie rests his head on Mama’s shoulder. It was a wonderful first adventure, and he can’t wait to go back to sensory class next week.
