Page 2 The glistening creek with waters so bright That danced and shimmered in the sunlight They were skipping flat stones, and they climbed up a tree As they played pretend so wild and free Page 3 But near the edge of the water, on muddy ground One of the boys heard a cracking sound He had stepped too far, the bank gave way Page 4 Splash! Into the creek he slipped that day Leg first he went splash, as his arms flailed wide The water gripped him with urgent tide He tried to kick, he tried to yell But something trapped his ankle well. Page 5 A twisted root beneath the stream He wished this was all a nightmarish dream But his foot was stuck, he couldn’t rise And a look of fear showed in his eyes. Page 6 The other boy saw and called out in dread “I’ll run for help! Hold tight!” He said But as the boys panic was rising high A shimmer in the water caught his eye Page 7 Swoosh! Up from below and quite surreal There came the most magnificent eel Page 8 A Slimy, silvery, slippery fella With barbells and fins that act like a propeller Page 9 The boy was still scared but soon he would see That this eel was friendly as friendly could be “Hello there my boy, it seems you are stuck” “Some days we all have a bit of bad luck” “But please do not fret do not fear do not squeal” “For help is here from, Frederick the Eel” Page 10 Like a flash he swam fast down towards the trapped foot He sized up the problem and said “you stay put” Page 11 He started to spin round, as fast as could be Page 12 One whip of his tail and the boy was set free! Page 13 “How did you do that!?” The boy said with wonder “My magical powers help all who fall under” “You’re amazing! Oh thank you, you saved my behind” Fredrick just smiled and said “you’re too kind” Page 14 The boy swam on out of the glistening creek Exhausted, yet smiling from his cheek to his cheek “Now Mr Frederick I really should say goodbye” Then the eel sang a song to remember him by Page 15 “Swimming up and down stream I’m a slippery guy A kind and magical anguillidae I patrol the creek looking for people to help So if you get in a pickle just let out a yelp There in a flash with skin of silvery steel You very best friend Mr Frederick the eel”
