Grumbles the Grouch lived high on a chilly mountain. His cave was dark and quiet, just the way he liked it. He always wore a frown, even when the sun shone bright.

Far below, the village twinkled with happy lights. Laughter and music floated up the mountain, making Grumbles scowl even deeper. "Too much noise!" he grumbled.

One blustery morning, a tiny, lost little squirrel scampered near his cave. It shivered, its big eyes looking up at Grumbles with a hopeful plea. Grumbles just crossed his arms.
