Create a story with picture The Living God Karla stared at the screen as the missionary pictures were being shown. She saw people dressed like those in her own church. There were businessmen and housewives, school children and toddlers, and there were all kinds, all kneeling before a strange idol! They were trying to tell the piece of stone about their problems. Karla knew that in some countries people worshipped wooden and stone gods, but these people were in a civilized area—in a big city. That evening she talked with her father and mother about it. “How do you know when you’ve got the right God?” she asked. “Sure,” Karla replied, “but all people in the pictures—they think they’ve got the right God too.” “Yes,” Dad said, “I suppose so but the Bible tells us there is only one God. He is the Creator of the earth. He made everything in it, including man.” Karla was quiet for a long time. Finally she spoke. “So that’s why we believe in Him? Because He’s so great?” Dad shook his head. “Partly, but more than that.” Karla was thinking. “Like He sent His Son, Jesus, to die?” she suggested, already knowing the answer to her own question. “There’s still more,” Dad told her. “Jesus Christ did more than die for us, as wonderful as that was! He also arose, and no other religion in the world has a living Savior.” “And He hears and answers prayers,” Karla’s mom added. Karla thought about that for a minute. There were wooden gods, stone gods, golden gods and probably every other kind, but God was different—He was alive! Only He could hear and answer her prayers. She turned and went to her room. She was going to pray that her living God would help her to tell other people about Christ—the living Savior of the world.
