Luna the Moon felt very shy tonight, watching the stars twinkle with such confidence. She pulled a thick, fluffy blanket of purple clouds over her face, hoping no one would notice her hiding in the vast sky.
Down below, the world grew quiet and dark without the moon’s silver light to guide the way. The little stars looked at each other in confusion, wondering where their round, glowing friend had gone so suddenly.
A tiny, bright star named Spark gathered all the others together for a shimmering meeting. They decided to turn the night into a grand game of hide-and-seek to find their missing friend and bring her back to the sky.
The stars began to peek behind the tallest mountain peaks and under the wispy edges of every passing cloud. Their collective twinkling lit up the sky like a thousand tiny lanterns searching for a lost treasure.
From behind her cloud, Luna watched the stars dancing and spinning through the cool night air. She didn't realize they were looking for her and felt a little lonely in her dark and quiet hiding spot.
Oliver the Owl flew up high and landed on a nearby cloud, hooting softly to the hidden moon. He told Luna that the forest creatures were lost in the dark and missed her gentle, guiding light to find their way home.
Hearing that she was needed gave Luna a tiny spark of courage deep inside her heart. She let a small sliver of her silver light peek through the clouds, casting a gentle beam toward the sleeping earth below.
The stars immediately spotted the glow and rushed toward the purple clouds with joyful cheers. They began to sing a shimmering song, telling Luna how much they loved her soft and steady light that made the night beautiful.
Realizing she was loved just as she was, Luna slowly pushed her heavy cloud blanket aside. She smiled at her friends, finally understanding that her gentle glow was the perfect companion to their bright, energetic twinkles.
