Join Kelly and Dan on a fateful day at work that takes an unexpected turn. This compelling story explores the immediate aftermath of a serious workplace accident, the journey through hospital care, and the long road to recovery. It's a tale of resilience, friendship, and the profound impact of a single decision, told with a unique blend of animated charm and heartfelt gravity.
Two coworkers Kelly (short brown hair) and Dan (long brown hair) are asked by their boss to throw a pallet of garbage in the big bin outside. Instead of picking up each item and throwing it in the bin they decide to use the forklift to lift the pallet and let the garbage slide off the pallet. When it doesn't slide of the pallet Kelly says he will climb up onto the pallet and push the garbage off. As Kelly is climing up the forklift their boss Dave comes out and sees them. Rather than telling them to stop he tells Dan to lower the pallet a foot. He does this, not realizing that Kelly's hand is in the area where the chain that moves the forks is. Kelly's right index finger gets caught in the chain and it gets crushed. When Kelly pulls his hand out you can see that all the skin and flesh have been torn away from the bone, down to the middle knuckle. Seeing this Dan runs and gets his truck to drive Kelly to the hospital. Kelly wraps his hand in a ball of papertowel. Kelly is actually very calm but Dan is freaking out like an expecting father driving his wife to the hospital to give birth. When they get to the hospital the ball of papertowel is almost completely red. The doctor has to give kelly 3 needles to numb his hand before using a wire brush to clean all the grease and dirt out of the wound. Kelly actually tells the doctor to just cut the end of his finger. The doctor says that he thinks he can save the finger. It takes 27 stitches to close to wound in Kelly's finger. Over the next 6 months, due to blood vessels not being reconnected parts of Kelly's finger keep dying and falling off. He has to go back to the hospital and they finally cut the end of his finger off.
