On Friday morning, they go to school. Sam and Ricky show up late, they over slept and didnt listen to their parents and didn’t make it on time. Blake and Shawn are worried that they won't do well on the field. After school they meet at the park for the game, the team is so pumped up for their first game. Blake, Ricky, Shawn and Sam turn to each other."Yeah, let’s do this!" Ricky and Sam answer as they grab their gloves. The game begins under the bright lights . Blake takes his spot at third base, his eyes stay on the batterEven though they stayed up late, Ricky and Sam hustle to the outfield, to keep their promise to the team. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the game is tied. A high ball toward left field. Ricky finds the ball, his eyes squinting against the light he trips over grass but makes the catch. He throws the ball to Shawn at second, who gets the runner out. The parents go wild. it's Blake's turn to bat, he smashes the ball, bringing Shawn home for the tie breaker. As the boys celebrate, Sam admits with a smile, "Okay, maybe winning is actually a little bit fun." Shawn ran from third base, sliding across home plate just as the catcher reached for the ball. "SAFE!" the umpire yelled.Even though they were exhausted from being up late from playing fornite., Ricky and Sam were proud "You guys did it!" Blake shouted.To celebrate, Blake’s mother drove them all to DQ for a blizzard. Sam said "I still think baseball is a lot of work... but that catch I made felt pretty awesome." Ricky added "And we’re definitely not staying up until midnight before the next game. I almost fell asleep in the dugout. "So, same time Monday for practice?"The four best friends clinked their spoons together. They weren't just a group of friends anymore; they were a team.
