Leo’s Day of Remembrance

Leo looks at the big school calendar and sees a bright red circle around Friday. The words Anzac Day Service are written in bold letters, and he wonders what this special day will be like.

The music fades, and the whole school stands up for a full minute of silence. Leo keeps his eyes closed and thinks about the brave soldiers, noticing how even the smallest rustle seems loud in the quiet room.

As the service ends, Leo walks back to class with a warm feeling in his heart. He pins his poppy to his shirt, knowing that remembering the past helps us build a kinder future together.
