Lily is lost in a world of imagination, building a tall tower of colorful blocks in the middle of her sunny bedroom. Her favorite teddy bear sits nearby, watching as she carefully places each piece to make the tower reach the sky.
A funny feeling starts in Lily's tummy, telling her it is time to go to the potty. She pauses for just a second, but her tower is almost finished, so she decides to stay and keep playing just a little longer.
The tower is now taller than Lily, but the feeling in her tummy is getting much stronger. She starts to wiggle and hop from foot to foot, trying to focus on her toys instead of the urgent signal her body is sending.
Suddenly, Lily realizes she can't wait another second. She looks at the bedroom door and then thinks about the long hallway, knowing deep down that the bathroom is just too far away to reach in time.
Thinking quickly, Lily lifts up the hem of her pretty floral dress and carefully pulls down her training underwear. She squats down right there on the floor, determined to at least keep her favorite clothes clean and dry.
After a few moments, Lily stands up and looks down at the small puddle on the rug. She feels much better now that the pressure is gone, but she stays very still, looking at the floor and wondering what her mother will say.
Mom walks into the room with a basket of laundry and stops when she sees the surprise on the floor. Lily looks up with big eyes and explains that she didn't want to get her clothes wet when she realized she couldn't run fast enough.
Mom sets down the laundry and gives Lily a gentle, reassuring hug. She kindly explains that accidents happen, but it is always best to stop playing and go to the potty as soon as that first little wiggle starts.
A little girl is playing alone in her room. She feels the need to go potty but she ignores it to keep playing. She ignores it for so long that she really, really, really needs to go. Knowing she won't make it to the bathroom in time, she decides to lift up her dress, pull down her training underwear, and go potty on the floor. A few minutes after the little girl finishes going potty, her mother enters the room and sees the puddle. The little girl explains what happened and that she was just trying to at least keep her clothes dry. Her mother kindly and patiently tells her that that's why you should go potty as soon as you feel like you need to.
