Maya's First Day of School

Maya woke up with butterflies in her tummy. Today was her first day of school! She bounced out of bed, eager to start this new adventure. Her mom smiled, ready to help her get ready.

At school, Maya clutched her mother's hand tightly. The classroom buzzed with the sounds of children and the friendly voice of the teacher, Ms. Lily. Maya felt a little nervous, but also excited.

Ms. Lily greeted the class and asked everyone to find a seat. Maya, unsure, looked around. A kind boy with bright eyes pointed to an empty chair. Maya smiled and sat down.

Ms. Lily began the day by asking the children to draw their favorite animal. Maya carefully listened as Ms. Lily described how to draw a cat. She picked up her crayon, ready to draw.

Maya followed Ms. Lily's instructions. First, a circle for the head, then two triangles for ears. She carefully drew the body, legs, and a swishing tail, just as Ms. Lily said.

Some children were already finished, showing their drawings. Maya kept listening and drawing. She added whiskers and a happy face to her cat, feeling proud of her work.

Ms. Lily praised everyone's drawings. She then asked the children to color their cats. Maya chose bright colors, making her cat look playful and fun.

During playtime, Ms. Lily asked the children to line up to go outside. Maya remembered the instructions and quickly joined the line. She made a new friend named Sam.

Outside, the children played on the playground. Maya and Sam swung on the swings together. They laughed and giggled, enjoying their first recess together.

As the day ended, Maya felt happy and confident. She knew that following directions wasn't so hard after all, and school was a fun place to be. She couldn't wait for tomorrow!
