As Pip skipped along, a tiny, grey squirrel sat all alone under a giant oak tree. Its fluffy tail drooped low, and its little nose twitched sadly. The squirrel looked so small and forlorn, clutching an empty acorn shell.
Pip stopped skipping, noticing the squirrel's sad face. A little frown appeared on Pip's brow, and Pip tilted their head, wondering why the squirrel looked so blue. Pip felt a tiny pang in their own heart, a feeling like a small cloud.
Pip thought hard, putting a finger to their chin. "Hmm," Pip pondered, "what makes a squirrel happy?" Pip remembered seeing squirrels munching on yummy nuts. Maybe that's what the little friend needed!
Carefully, Pip found a bright red berry, plump and juicy, hidden beneath a leaf. Pip slowly walked towards the sad squirrel, holding out the berry with a gentle smile. "Hello, little friend," Pip whispered softly.
The squirrel peeked up, its eyes wide with surprise. It sniffed the air, then cautiously took the bright berry from Pip's hand. A tiny spark returned to the squirrel's eyes as it nibbled the sweet treat.
Seeing the squirrel's happy munching made a warm, bubbly feeling spread through Pip's chest. Pip's smile grew wide, feeling so good to have helped. It was like sunshine filling Pip's heart.
Just then, Pip heard a soft sniffle from behind a big, colourful mushroom. A little bunny with long, floppy ears was looking very upset, hopping around in circles. "Oh no," thought Pip, "another friend is sad!"
Remembering the squirrel, Pip took a deep breath and walked over to the bunny. "What's wrong, little bunny?" Pip asked kindly. The bunny explained it had lost its favourite shiny pebble. Pip offered to help search, looking carefully under every flower.
Together, Pip and the bunny searched until, "Eureka!" Pip exclaimed, finding the sparkling pebble tucked under a daisy. The bunny's face lit up with a huge grin, and it gave Pip a big, grateful hug. Pip felt a double dose of warmth, knowing that understanding and helping made everyone's day brighter.
