The Edge of the Abyss: A Cold War Shadow

In this presentation, we examine an alternative historical scenario related to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The issue is how the world might have developed if the United States had chosen a military solution in the form of air strikes against Cuba, followed by a full-scale invasion. We will analyze the possible consequences of such a decision: how Cuba might have been affected militarily and politically, how the relationship between the superpowers might have developed, and what global consequences a possible nuclear war might have had. Through this, we will attempt to reveal how close the world actually was to a major conflict during the Cold War.
