Hawra's Path of Hope

Hawra is a ten-year-old girl with long dark hair who lives in a peaceful village in South Lebanon. She loves to spend her afternoons playing in her lush garden, surrounded by vibrant pink roses and green grass. She and her friends run freely under the warm sun, their laughter filling the air as they pick flowers and enjoy the beauty of their home.

Suddenly, the tranquility of the village is shattered by the distant, echoing sounds of war. Hawra’s family makes the heart-wrenching decision to leave their beloved home and most of their belongings behind to find safety. As they walk away, Hawra looks back at the rolling hills of her village with a sad expression, clutching a small book tightly to her chest.

The family arrives at a local school that has been converted into a crowded shelter for displaced people. Hawra stands in the busy hallway, looking wide-eyed and anxious at the unfamiliar faces and the stacks of belongings lining the walls. The school feels very different from the peaceful garden she left behind, and a heavy sense of worry fills her heart.

To make the new environment feel more comfortable, Hawra carefully organizes a small corner in one of the classrooms for herself. She places a soft floral pillow and a few colorful picture books she managed to bring on the floor. This tiny sanctuary becomes her safe space, illuminated by the soft light coming through the classroom window.

Remembering her scout training about the importance of helping others, Hawra decides to overcome her shyness. She walks into the school courtyard and bravely introduces herself to a group of children sitting in the shade of a large tree. Soon, they are all sitting in a circle, sharing stories and playing games that help them forget their fears for a while.

Having a plan gives her a sense of control and purpose, helping her feel more settled in her new life at the school.

Other children are inspired to join her, and soon the wall is covered with vibrant artwork showing houses, suns, and messages of hope. This 'Corner of Hope' becomes a symbol of their collective dream to one day return to their villages.
