Kael and the Clever Jinni

Long ago, a poor fisherman lived by the sea, casting his net only four times a day to earn just enough to survive. One morning, after hours of waiting, he threw his net for the final time and felt it catch on something heavy. Hoping it was fish, he pulled with all his strength and dragged out an old brass jar sealed with a strange mark. Curious and disappointed that it wasn’t food, the fisherman opened the jar to see if he could sell it. As soon as the lid came off, a thick cloud of smoke poured out, rising higher and higher until it formed a giant jinni. The fisherman trembled in fear. The jinni boomed, “Human, prepare to die!” Shocked, the fisherman cried, “Why would you kill me when I freed you?” The jinni explained that he had been trapped in the jar for centuries. During the first hundred years, he promised to reward anyone who freed him with riches. But no one came. In the next hundred years, he promised treasure and power. Still no one came. Over time, he grew bitter and swore that whoever released him would be killed. The fisherman thought quickly. He said, “I don’t believe someone as huge as you could ever fit in this small jar.” Angered, the jinni shouted, “I can prove it!” He immediately turned back into smoke and squeezed himself into the jar. As soon as the smoke was inside, the fisherman sealed it tightly again. The jinni begged, “Release me! I will reward you this time.” The fisherman replied calmly, “You planned to harm the one who saved you. I will not free you unless you promise kindness instead of cruelty.” Realizing his mistake, the jinni swore to help the fisherman. This time, the fisherman trusted his wisdom and released him carefully. True to his word, the jinni led the fisherman to a secret lake filled with rare fish, ensuring he would never be poor again. From that day on, the fisherman remembered that intelligence and patience are stronger than fear.
