Pietie and Khosi’s Big Adventure: Learning to Be Road Safe

Background: Pietie and Khoi are 7-year-old boys who are going to the store with Pietie's aunt today. While they are walking, they are going to learn about some road safety rules. 1. Pietie and Khosi and road safety Grade 2 Subject: Life skills 2. “Pietie, let’s quickly go to the store.” Pietie, Khosi, and his aunt are walking. They come to a long, big pole with 3 eyes staring at Pietie. 3. The pole has 3 different colors: red, orange, and green. STOP says the red light, WAIT says the orange light, GO says the green light. The light turns green, and Pietie walks, but what happens then??? 4. All the cars are driving, and one car almost hits Pietie. Pietie didn’t look. His aunt teaches them: Stop, Look, Listen. Stop, look right, left, and right again, and listen for a car coming. 5. They are walking on something that is painted like a Zebra?? It is a safe place for people to walk. 6. Khosi wants to run across the road. “No,” says the aunt. You must never run across the road; you could get hurt. But you must still look both ways before you walk. 7. They get to the shop, and Pietie and Khosi buy a book about road safety. 8. When they walked back, they saw the pole again, and the light was red. Pietie and Khosi say, ”STOP.” They waited till the light was green, and after looking, they started walking again till they got home. 9. When they got home, he immediately read his book on road safety. He told his mother about all the road safety rules he had learned today. 10. Be like Pietie and Khosi and follow the road safety rules.
